Everything about Queen Street Mall Brisbane totally explained

The Queen Street Mall is a mall in the centre of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. Originally a part of Queen Street, the mall was closed to traffic in 1982 and several facilities in the mall, including Wintergarden and The Myer Centre, have opened since then. The mall also underwent refurbishment in 1999 and in 2005 the mall saw the opening of the new flagship David Jones store which replaced a previous one situated next to it.
The mall, in essence, is a long pedestrian way to connect the two major department stores, David Jones (north) and Myer (south).
The mall's name is based on the street that it resides on, Queen Street, which in turn was named after Queen Victoria. Queen Street ends at the Victoria Bridge. The mall attracts 26 million visitors a year.
The Queen Street Mall is lined with retail outlets and smaller shopping malls, including the Wintergarden, Broadway on the Mall, QueensPlaza, Brisbane Arcade and The Myer Centre.
Beneath the Queen Street Mall and The Myer Centre is the Queen Street Bus Station.
Management of the mall is covered by The Local Government (Queen Street Mall) Act, a state government act, which also originally granted the Queensland Police specific powers within the confines of the mall. However, these powers have been repealed with the introduction of the Police Powers and Responsibilities Act.
